WHAT WE BELIEVE…
The basic and fundamental doctrine of AXC is the Biblical standard of full salvation mentioned in the book of Acts:
Acts 2:38-39 (KJV):
38 “Then Peter said unto them, ‘Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.’”
Repentance:
Repentance is a deeply remorseful experience where you not only ask God for forgiveness of your sins but also commit to turning away from those sins to live a life of holiness. This is the “killing of the old sinful self,” which is no longer part of your life after true forgiveness.
Water Baptism:
Water baptism represents the burial of the old self and resurrection into a new life. The Bible teaches that you must be fully immersed in water, and this must be done in the name of Jesus. In doing so, your sins are washed away.
Receiving God’s Spirit:
This event is known as the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It occurs when the Spirit of the living God comes to dwell within you. The Bible says this is evident when you speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gives you utterance. Just as Jesus was baptized with water, the Bible tells us that the Spirit of God descended on Him like a dove (Matthew 3:16). Similarly, the Holy Ghost anoints you to be a witness for the Gospel and for all the great things God has done in your life (Acts 1:8).
The Bible as the Word of God:
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, containing the true history of creation, the earth, mankind, and the future prophecy of the world to come. Salvation is found only in the teachings of Scripture.
There is only ONE GOD:
God is the Creator of all things—heaven, earth, and mankind. This One God, who is eternal and spirit (John 4:24), reveals Himself in three ways: as Father (Creator), Son (Savior, 1 John 5:20), and Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit, Romans 8:11). The Bible makes it clear: God is the first and the last, and besides Him, there is no other (Isaiah 44:6). There was no God formed before Him, and none will be formed after Him (Isaiah 43:10).
Jesus, the Son of God:
Jesus is both the Son of God in the flesh (Romans 1:3) and God Himself in spirit (Matthew 1:18-23). Jesus is the Christ, the Creator of all things (Colossians 1:16-17; John 1:10; Isaiah 40:28). He is God with us (Matthew 1:23), God made flesh (John 1:1-14), and God manifested in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16). Jesus is the Almighty, the one who was, is, and is to come (Revelation 1:8; Isaiah 9:6). Jesus Himself testified, “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (John 14:7-11).
Jesus as Our Savior:
Since it required the shedding of blood for the remission of sins (Hebrews 9:22), God, being Spirit, had no blood to shed. So, He prepared a body of flesh and blood (Hebrews 10:5) to fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah 43:11, “Beside ME there is no SAVIOR.” Thus, when Jesus was born, He was Jehovah our Savior, the one God of the universe, born as a man. This is why the angels proclaimed, “For there is born this day in the city of David, a SAVIOR, which is CHRIST THE LORD” (Luke 2:11).
The Holy Ghost:
The Holy Ghost is not a separate person in a triune Godhead. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Jesus Christ, coming to dwell within the hearts and lives of those who receive Him. Jesus said, “I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you” (John 14:16-26; Romans 8:9; 2 Corinthians 13:5). There is only ONE God, and He is revealed to us in three ways. The Holy Ghost is the presence of Jesus in us. Therefore, there are not three persons in God, but three manifestations of the ONE God. Jesus is the name of God, and salvation comes through Him.
Salvation:
Salvation consists of deliverance from sin through the blood of Christ, achieved by repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. Living a godly life in obedience to His Word is essential to continuing in this salvation (Acts 2:38-41).
